  2. Pledge • I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

  3. What is key club? Key Club was started in 1925 and is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through service to others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities. Key Club has approximately 260,000 members in approximately 5,000 clubs. Key Club is represented in over 31 countries.

  7. 2014 – 2015 Expectations • Car Washes for Eliminate • Submit entries into multiple District Education and Leadership Conference (DELC) contests • Fundraise to send entire officer board to DELC • More involvement with the Governor’s Project • Habitat For Humanity • John Knox Village • Book Readings at Libraries • What do YOU want out of this year? • We will be setting up a suggestion box to submit any ideas you might have

  8. The Eliminate project • Delivering the cure for maternal and neonatal tetanus. • Kills one baby every nine minutes • Nearly 60,000 newborn children die every year • To eliminate MNT from the Earth, 129 million mothers and their future babies need to be immunized • The Eliminate project will reach the poorest, most neglected mothers and babies with additional lifesaving health care. The end of this one disease means the beginning of better health for so many families.

  9. volunteer training Sessions • Must attend only once during high school to start earning community service hours. NO VOLUNTEER HOURS COUNT UNTIL YOU ATTEND A SESSION! • Held in lecture hall across from main office during the first half of lunch (11:02-11:37) • Max 50 students: Sign up in guidance on clipboard next to the volunteer bulletin board • Tues. September 16 • Tues. October 21 • Tues. November 20 • Tues. December 9… • Next Thursday September 18 Mrs. McConkey will be holding a special training session after school from 3:00 to 3:30 just for Key Club members.

Homecoming parade • Wednesday September 24 at 6:30pm • Starts at the corner of Rhode Island and Ohio Ave. and ends in the student parking lot at UHS. • Meeting at school at 5:30pm • Wear a Key Club shirt or a circus costume (optional) • Bring a bag of candy to throw during the parade • Tuesday September 23, after school, we will be meeting to design posters and a banner for the parade • If you don’t have a Key Club shirt from previous years, you can bring a t-shirt and design it this day as well (we will provide the paint!)

  12. Independent projects At every meeting we will have a list of organizations at which you can volunteer with independently, even if the club as a whole is not sponsoring the event. We do this so that you can ensure to reach your desired number of volunteer hours at a schedule that is convenient for you! • New Horizons
