  1. Cell Structures Animal Cell Plant Cell Bacteria Cell

  2. Eukaryotic cellsare single-celled or many-celled organisms whose cells have a nucleus and organelles surrounded by a membrane. Organelles are structures with in a cell, sometimes surrounded by one or more membranes. Do you know which organelles are found in which eukaryotic cells? Like bacteria, all eukaryotic cells have a cell membrane, DNA, and ribosomes. All eukaryotes also have a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles. But different eukaryotes have different organelles. You will see which organelles are found in animal and plant cells next.

  3. Animal Cell Cytoplasm Cytoplasm Plant Cell

  4. Cytoplasm: Cystomplasm is the fluid, membranes, and organelles inside a cell, excluding the nucleus.

  5. Animal Cell Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Plant Cell Plant Cell

  6. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER): It is a network of membranes throughout the cytoplasm of the cell. There are two types: • Rough ER: The rough endoplasmic reticulum is where most protein synthesis occurs in the cell. It is when ribosomes are attached. • Smooth ER: The function of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum is to synthesize lipids in the cell. It also helps in the detoxification of harmful substances in the cell.

  7. Animal Cell Ribosomes Ribosomes Plant Cell

  8. Ribosomes: Organelles that help in the synthesis of proteins.

  9. Animal Cell Nucleus Nucleus Plant Cell

  10. Nucleus: The nucleus is a double membrane-covered organelle found in eukaryotic cells and contains the cell’s DNA.

  11. Animal Cell Nucleolus Nucleolus Plant Cell

  12. Nucleolus: The nucleolus is located in the nucleus and contains materials that are used to make ribosomes.

  13. Animal Cell DNA DNA Plant Cell

  14. DNA: DNA contains the information on how to make the cell’s proteins. Proteins control the chemical reactions in a cell. They also provide structural support for cells and tissues.

  15. Animal Cell Mitochondria Mitochondria Plant Cell

  16. Mitochondria: Mitochondria are the powerhouses of a cell. Mitochondria “burn” food molecules to release energy.

  17. Animal Cell Cell Membrane Cell Membrane Cell Wall Plant Cell

  18. Cell wall: The cell wallis a rigid structure that surrounds the cell membrane and provides support. Cell membrane: The cell membrane is a barrier between the contents of the cell and the outside environment.

  19. Animal Cell Lysosomes Microtubules Chloroplast Vacuole Plant Cell

  20. Animal Cell Lysosomes: Lysosomes destroy worn-out or damaged organelles. They also get rid of waste materials and protect the cell from foreign invaders. Microtubules: Microtubules are conveyer belts inside the cells. They move vesicles, granules, organelles like mitochondria, and chromosomes via special attachment proteins. They also serve a cytoskeletal role. Lysosomes Microtubules

  21. Plant Cell Chloroplast: Chloroplasts make food for plant cells. Chloroplast harness the energy of the sun and use it to make sugar. Vacuole: Vacuoles are large vesicles found in plant cells. They store water and other liquids. Chloroplast Vacuole
