  3. 2012-2013 August 27th- November 6th: Football Season (7th games on Monday, 8th games on Tuesday)* November 6th- 9th: Basketball Tryouts November 12th- February 21st: Basketball Season (Boys Basketball games on Monday)* November 27th- February 13th: Cross Country Season (CC Meets on Wednesdays) February 11th- 15th: Tennis Tryouts February 19th- May 13th: Tennis Season (Matches played on Mondays) February 25- April 9th: Track Season (Track meets on Thursdays)* April 11th- May 28th: Soccer Season (Soccer games played on Tuesdays)* Athletic Calendar

  4. HMS Athletes are held to a higher standard. The student-athlete is expected to: • Be a role model for other students • Conduct themselves with dignity and respect towards others inside and outside the classroom • Hold themselves academically responsible and make their best effort in all classes • Be a gentleman to peers and teachers • Avoid any situation that can result in a detention or office referral • Displays good sportsmanship towards all teammates and opponents • Supports the team enthusiastically, no matter the situation • Demonstrates the Golden Rule at all times Athlete Expectations Repeated failure to uphold these standards will result in lost playing time, game suspensions, and ultimately- expulsion from athletics

Bronco Athletic Parents are the BEST because they: • Support their athlete and the team enthusiastically no matter the game situation • Agree and Disagree RESPECTFULLY with the decisions of coaches and officials • Understand the chain of command when a situation with their athlete arises • Have the athlete talk to the coach involved • Parent talks to the coach involved • Parent talks to Coach Perez • Parent speaks with campus administrator • Parent communicates with district athletic director • Waits at least 24 hours if there is a concern from a game situation • Understands that this is Middle School and that many student-athletes are playing organized sports for the first time • Supports the program by joining the Booster Club and Volunteering Parent Expectations

Go to the HMS Website->Activities->Athletic Forms and Directions-> Athletic Forms • CHHS Basketball • CHHS Baseball • CHHS Football • CHHS Strength & Conditioning • Physical Packet • Athletic Policies • ALL HMS Athletes must have a current physical on file before a locker and equipment can be assigned. Additionally they CANNOT practice until a physical is received. Missing any practice days before the first football game will result in the athlete being ineligible for the first game. Summer Camps & Physicals

Athletes are expected to Dress Out in appropriate athletic gear EVERY DAY* • Football Practice Gear: Practice jersey, all pads, pants, cleats, helmet w/mouthpiece • Basketball Practice Gear: Practice jersey, Black HMS shorts, appropriate shoes • Off Season & Other Sports: Heritage Athletics, Gray, Plain White T Shirt, Heritage or Black shorts, Heritage or Dark Navy Sweats, appropriate shoes • Game Day- During school HMS athletes wear a collared shirt, tie, slacks w/ belt, dress shoes. Game uniforms will be assigned to athletes • Practice Attire can be ordered through Barefoot Athletics • *unless physically unable Athletic Clothing

Both 7th & 8th Grade Football Players WILL PRACTICE on the first day of school • UIL Required: 4 Days in Helmet & Shorts, 5 days in Full Pads before eligible to play in first game • 7th Grade Practice: Arrive at 6:30am, ON THE FIELD at 6:45am. Practice until 8:40am. • 8th Grade Practice: ON THE FIELD at 2:50pm, practice until 5pm. On 7th grade game days and Fridays, practice until 4pm • 7th Grade Games on Mondays • 8th Grade Games on Tuesdays • All equipment (except shoes and athletic support) provided by HMS • Athletes are strongly encouraged to provide own integrated practice pants (pads are already sewn in) • Pre-Game Meals- Parents may drop off meal at the office or purchase from Jason’s Deli Fall Football

Email andy.tucker@gcisd.net or leave a contact card to be added to our email mailing list • Check the HMS Football site around late July/Early August for information regarding • Schedules • Equipment Handout (this is done before school starts) • Football Parent Meeting • Volunteer Opportunities • Most importantly: • Get the Physical completed ASAP (do not wait until August) • Strongly encourage your athlete to participate in the summer camps (especially Strength & Conditioning) • Make your athlete RUN outside regularly during the summer Summer Contact Info
