  2. SUN VALLEY, IDAHO

  3. LONGITUDE & LATITUDE OF SUN VALLEY, IDAHO • LONGITUDE = 114.35W • LATITUDE = 43.697N

  4. SOIL TYPE & CLIMATE • SOIL TYPE = VOLCANIC =causedbyvolcanic eruption. • CLIMATE = TEMPERTURES RANGE FROM 89F TO 37F. ON RARE OCCASIONS UP TO 100F!

  5. VOLCANOES Volcanoes have effected Idaho’s land. After an eruption around 2,000 years ago in Idaho it changed the form of the land. The land was flat, but after the eruption the land turned ridged and uneven. The eruption also effected the soil. It turned the soil into an ashy, heated soil.

  12. SUPPORT Idaho supports so many animals, because of the vast land of wilderness and the rocks and caves for shelter in a snow storm. The also help each other with the food chain, and after they eat plants their feces is naturally turned into fertilizer.

  13. ECOLOGY Mountain pine beetles have killed over 90% of the white pines in the last 40 years. The white pines are also dying out because of people chopping them down. Another ecological problem Idaho is facing is the decrease in the California condor. The condor’s population has lowered to 22 since 1989. They hope to increase the population to 300. In Idaho most mosquitoes carry a virus called West Nile. Some bites result in a pounding headache, fever or body ache. If you are 50 or older it may cause weakened immune systems and in rare cases swelling of the brain or the spinal cord which leads to dying.(108in.this year, normal is 200)

  14. POTATOES Potatoes grow best in a high altitude or above sea level. They also grow best in Idaho, because of the heat from the sun during the day and coolness in the night. One problem that the potatoes face in Idaho is not enough precipitation to grow, so farmers have to depend on irrigation systems. Potatoes do grow well though in the volcanic soil, because of the volcanic ash in the soil.

  15. Human effects When humans cut the trees down they are cutting down birds houses, and they destroy the oxygen that the trees produce . Another thing that humans effect is wildlife, by hunting. Unregulated hunting could put the animals on the endangered list. Although something good does come from hunting, if you don’t hunt animals they will become over populated.
