  2. Briefings • Used to relay information to crews about their sortie. • Sortie objectives • What are they looking for? • Where are they going? • What are they doing? • What type of search will they do?

  3. Briefings (cont) • Safety • Hazards to flight? • Aircraft operating in adjacent areas. • Weight and Balance • ORM Worksheet • Crew qualifications • Check their qualifications. • IMSAFE checklist • Documented on the CAPF 104 (front side)

  4. Debriefings • Used to get as much information as possible from the crews about what happened on that sortie. • Encourage crews to be completely open and honest about what happened. • Planning may also have a person assigned to listen to all debriefings. • Used to help plan future sorties, so accuracy is important!

  5. Debriefings (cont) • Was sortie flown as planned? • What was learned? • Any items that need to be investigated further? • Crew’s honest assessment of effectiveness. • What should be done different next time? • Discuss any safety issues

  6. Debriefings (cont) • Document as much as possible. • Back side of CAPF 104 is used to gather this information. • Crew logs or drawings and maps should be gathered if possible and attached to CAPF 104.
