Goals • Promote Regional Transmission Cooperation among Black Sea TSOs • Identify Priority Investments in Transmission Systems & Interconnections to Improve System Reliability • From Planning Results, Propose Possibilities of Enhanced Regional Trade • Harmonize Transmission Planning Principles, Methods and Perhaps, Methodologies

  3. Objectives • Create Expert Transmission Planning Working Group • Develop Common Platform for Transmission System Analysis • Database, Software, Approaches • Provide Training in the USE of PSS/E Planning Software

  4. Objectives (Cont’d) • Analyze Regional System to Identify Existing Potential for Enhanced Trade • Identify Potential Transmission Projects to Expand Trade within Reliability Requirements • Promote the Results of the Analysis to Audience of Policy & Regulatory Authorities

Tasks • Assess Planning Capability & Needs of TSOs • Purchase & Distribute PSS/E Software • Train TSO Personnel on PSS/E Software • Develop National Transmission Models • Integrate National Models into Regional Model Assuming Synchronous Operation • Analyze System • Prepare & Disseminate Report

Accomplishments • Project MOU Signed by All Participants • Regional Transmission Planning Working Group of Experts Established • 14 Regional Transmission Planning Experts Trained in the Use of PSS/E Software • PSS/E Software Procured & Delivered to All Participating TSOs • Seven National Transmission Planning Models Developed • Regional Transmission Planning Model Created • Foster Improved Knowledge of National Systems Technical Characteristics & Development Plans • Armenia and Azerbaijan Invited & Accepted to Join Project

  10. Next Steps • Procure Software for Armenia & Azerbaijan • GSE Host Training on PSS/E for Armenia & Azerbaijan • Expand Regional Model to Include Armenia & Azerbaijan • Analysis of Identified Scenarios
