  1. New Deal • What was the New Deal? • Series of economic programs put in place to help jumpstart the economy • Helped in areas such as banking, railroads, farming, and industry • 3 R’s- Relief, Recovery, Reform

  2. CCC • Civilian Conservation Corps • It was a work relief program that provided work for unemployed & unmarried men. • Ages 18-25 • Unskilled manual labor (Building roads, forest protection, wildlife)

  3. Questions • What did Mrs. Roosevelt think were the agencies main achievements? • Do you think a program such as the CCC would be accepted today? Why or why not?

  4. AAA • Agricultural Adjustment Administration • Restricted agricultural production by paying farmers subsidies not to plant on part of their land  • They also asked that the farmers kill any excess livestock • This caused there to be less crops available, thus raising the prices of the crops

  5. Other Programs • FDIC – Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation • Insures individual bank deposits up to 250,000$ • TVA – Tennessee Valley Authority • Constructed dams and power projects and developed the economy of a nine-state area in the Tennessee River Valley • FHA – Federal Housing Administration • Insured loans provided by banks for the building and repair of houses
