  1. RTVISC Working Group 9 Update and Status

  2. WG Mission • Define and catalog data elements and data structures for data communications within and between passenger rail basic operating units (BOU) and between trains and the wayside.

  3. WG Work Plan

  4. Current Focus • Definition and cataloging of data elements for BOU interoperability. • Data elements and data structures are based on those defined in UIC 556 for TCN WTB (IEEE 1473-T train network). • Data elements defined by WG9 will be used by LonMark Transportation Group in defining functional profiles and SNVTs.

  5. Current Status • Third internal draft of IEEE P1544 is in development. • Relevant sections of UIC 556 are either referred to or duplicated (with extensions in some cases); this requires consent of UIC. • Draft will be released as P1544/D1 and distributed by 2/5/2002. • Next meeting to review P1544 scheduled for 2/25/2002. • Revised PAR needs to be submitted.

  6. Coordination Requirements • WG3- UIC 556 defines certain mechanisms for diagnostics; this needs to be coordinated with WG3. • LonMark- First joint meeting held with LonMark on 1/8/2002 at Echelon in San Jose. • TWC working group.
