  4. West Bank and Vicinity • Harvey Canal Sector Gate closed (not pictured) • Overtopping of private levee on Harvey Canal • Levee eroded at overtopping site

  5. West Bank and Vicinity • Water seepage through new floodwalls • Street flooding on Peters Road from rainfall and some initial overtopping

  6. West Bank and Vicinity • Flooding of LA-23, Belle Chase Highway near Myrtle Grove • Overtopping of Citrus Lands Levees

  7. West Bank and Vicinity • Approximately 100 homes flooded in southern reaches of Lafitte • Sandbagging Operations protected some homes

Lafourche and Terrebonne • 16.5 inches of rain, up to 11 inches in a 24 hour period in Golden Meadow. • Gates at Larose and Golden Meadow shut down for 5 days. • Water levels in Bayou Lafourche reached +1.7, 0.7’ over flood stage causing some street flooding. • Some breaching on the North Lafourche levees. • Some Home flooding in Terrebonne. • Water levels on Bayou Terrebonne floodgate, 3.1’ on inside and 5.8’ on the outside. • Enough evidence that Morganza to the Gulf Projects, although incomplete, are reducing water levels during storms.

  12. After Action items • Ensure that Levee, Drainage and scour repairs are made by USACE on WBV and LPV projects. • Surplus fund project to provide +7.5 tidal protection in Lafitte by 2012 hurricane season • Look for funding source to raise Citrus Land levees in Myrtle Grove. USACE New Orleans to Venice project will federalize system in about 5 years. • Levee repairs on North Lafourche levee system.
