Objective • Decreased risk of drug use, HIV/AIDS and crime among young people through improved family functioning, bonding and communication. • Select local institutions implement family skills training programmes adapted and • implemented in 1 to 4 regions. • Evidence of effectiveness of family skills training programmes implemented in low- and middle income countries available. • local institutions to adapt, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate evidence-based family skills training programmes. • Steps: • Train facilitators • Train facilitators as trainers 12 months post implementation • Trained facilitators to train a new batch of facilitators • Monitor and evaluate along the way

Current programmes implemented • Strengthening Families Program for Parents and Youth 10-14 • Level of evidence (5 randomized control trials and 100 studies based on pre- and post- intervention evaluation) • Risk level: Universal • Age of children: 10-14 years • Families and Schools Together • Level of evidence (1 independent randomized control trial, 3 randomized control trials and 3 randomized control trials completed with program developer as co-principal investigator) • Risk level: Universal • Age of children: 6-13 years
