  20. Important Rule Reminders • Heading the ball is NOT allowed 12U and below (restart play w/IFK) • Goalkeeper punts/drop kicks are NOT allowed 10U and below • 10U matches include build-out lines to promote development of technical skills by giving the attacking team more room to develop an attack from the defensive third in an unpressured setting • BOL are located across the field equidistant between the top of the penalty area and the halfway line • BOL impact: 1) Keeper’s ball distribution 2) Goal kicks 3) Offside (instead of halfway line) • Opponents must retreat behind the BOL for a goal kick or when the Keeper gains possession of the ball • Keeper distributing the ball via a throw, roll or pass, or keeper/player taking a goal kick does not have to wait for opponents to retreat behind the BOL. The ball can be distributed to either side of the BOL. • Opponents may cross the BOL and challenge as soon as the ball is released from Keeper’s hands by throw, roll, or pass.  On goal kicks, opponents may cross the BOL and challenge as soon as the ball is kicked. • www.ayso1p.org/coach

  21. New Rule Changes • Cards can now be displayed to coaches (previously only verbal warning/send off). Cards cannot be displayed to spectators (still only verbal warning/game stoppage until they leave). • Winner of coin flip may now choose either to kick off or which goal to attack. • Dropped Ball is now dropped to only 1 player (usually to a player from the team that last had possession when the play was stopped). All other players must be 4.5 yards away. • On a goal kick, the ball is now in play as soon as it’s kicked and moves forward. There’s no longer a requirement for it to exit the penalty area. Same applies for IDKs taken by a defender from the penalty area (usually after an offside infraction). • In a defensive wall, attacker must be at least 1 yard away from the wall until the ball is put in play.  If an attacking player is closer than 1 yard to the wall, an IDK is awarded to the defending team.

  22. During all games (5U and above) only one volunteer on the field acting as a referee, all other coaches must be on the sidelines • Youth Referees are to be respected • Any issues or questions concerning the Laws of the Game administered during game day can be emailed to RRA@DeerfieldAYSO.org
