Current Elsevier Scenario • 466 individual journal subscriptions • Perpetual Ownership • New subscriptions needed to access new titles • No inflation cap • Inflation varies from 5% - 8.5% depending on the title • Year to year agreement allowing 1.5% cancellation • 13.5% content fee for online access plus a four year archive of additional years

  3. Current Elsevier Expenditures • $1,844,745 in 2012 • $1,946,206 in 2013 (estimated) • In addition to inflation have increased our subscription base with new titles • Added 12 new titles in last 3 years • Total: $11,520 • Expect to continue adding at a similar rate

  4. 2013 Renewal Proposal • 466 individual journal subscriptions • Perpetual Ownership • 1700 additional titles • Leased • Database fee of $30,000 • Total Projected Expenditure $1,933,760 • All title access back to 1995 regardless of subscription start date • Capped inflation of 5.5% • Reduced content fee of 11% • 1.5% Cancellation allowance • 5 year deal with annual no penalty opt-out
