  6. Grammar: demonstrative pronoun (ENG) this, that/it, that over there, which (Romaji) kore, sore, are, dore (Hiragana) これ、それ、あれ、どれ this … close to the speaker, that/it … close to listener, that over there … far which … unknown • e.g. This is Mary’s pen. • korewa Mary no pen desu。 (X is Y form)

  7. Grammar: demonstrative pronoun + noun (ENG) this…, that…, that… over there, which… (Romaji) kono, sono, ano, dono (Hiragana) この、その、あの、どの • e.g. Is that banana 100 yen? • sono banana wahyaku yen desuka。 (Is X Y? form)

  8. Grammar: demonstrative pronoun for location (ENG) here, there, over there, where (Romaji) koko, soko, asoko, doko (Hiragana) ここ、そこ、あそこ、どこ • e.g. Mary’s college is here. • Mary no daigakuwakokodesu。

  9. Exercise • Record your voice and emailit to me for feedback. Objective: demonstrate understanding the use of demonstrative pronouns in Japanese speech. • Exercise #1 Tell me where you are at 9am, 12pm, and 3 pm in Japanese. Use a dictionary if necessary. • Exercise #2 Make a dialog in Japanese, based on the imageon the right side -> (i.e., make a sentence for line A and B)
