  1. COR1 Status – July 2001 Joseph M. Davila (GSFC) O. C. St. Cyr (CUA)

  2. Current Issues • Scattered light testing of BB2 • Increase Exposure time • Reduce contamination during assembly • Objective lens erosion testing

  3. Breadboard Instrument COR1 breadboard in HAO tunnel -- March 2001

  4. COR1 Occulter

  5. COR1 BB2 Scattered Light Bars Bright Ring

  6. Scattered Light Measurements from BB2

  7. Approaches to shorten exposure time • Understand and remove bright ring • Decrease bandpass from 1000 A to approximately 100 A • Use a neutral density filter • Focal plane occulter • Add images on board

  8. Reduce Contamination of Objective Lens • Pre-align mechanical parts to minimize objective exposure • Dust cover for objective during assembly • Assembly moved to cleaner, dedicated clean room

  9. Erosion Test at Duke Facility • Samples prepared and exposed • Awaiting BTDF testing • Complete by 30 July
