Egg Osmosis Experiment. Priya Kolu 8-73. Purpose. 1. Pour water ( or corn syrup ) in cup. 2. Place egg in the cup of water ( or corn syrup) 3. Leave the egg in cup for 24 hrs. 4. After 24 hrs , measure the egg using measure string and balance. 5. Record the results. Materials. 2 eggs

  2. Purpose • 1. Pour water ( or corn syrup ) in cup. • 2. Place egg in the cup of water ( or corn syrup) • 3. Leave the egg in cup for 24 hrs. • 4. After 24 hrs, measure the egg using measure string and balance. • 5. Record the results.

  3. Materials • 2 eggs • Vinegar • Corn syrup • 2 cups • H²0 (water) • A string • Tape measure • Two beakers • A balance

  4. Hypothesis (Water egg) • Hypothesis was wrong. • Different liquids effect egg size. • I thought water egg would dissolve after sitting in water for 24 hrs.

  5. Hypothesis (Corn syrup egg) • Hypothesis was wrong. • Different liquids effect egg size. • Thought egg would also dissolve.

  6. Conclusion (Water egg) • Egg enlarged. • Water moved into this egg. • Egg has lower concentration of water. • Water moved from higher concentration (water) to low concentration (egg)

  7. Conclusion (Corn syrup egg) • Egg shrunk. • Water moved into this egg. • Egg had higher water concentration than corn syrup. • Water moved from higher concentration (egg) to lower concentration (corn syrup).
