Policies & Procedures. Mrs. Canup Room 417. a.k.a. “How can I avoid getting in trouble in class?”. Before Class. Feel free to come by any morning between 8:00 – 8:30 for questions, tutoring, or to work. There’s always odd jobs that I need help with…if you’d like something to do!

  1. Policies & Procedures Mrs. Canup Room 417 a.k.a. “How can I avoid getting in trouble in class?”

  2. Before Class • Feel free to come by any morning between 8:00 – 8:30 for questions, tutoring, or to work. There’s always odd jobs that I need help with…if you’d like something to do! • Run your errands, go to the restroom, visit your friends, etc. • If you’ve been absent – get papers from folders, copy T.O.C. & ask questions! • When the bell rings…CLASS WILL START!

  3. Start of Class • Be in your seat when the bell rings • Update T.O.C. & complete Bellwork assignment • Be sure you have your I.S.N. with you! • No talking! (not even to me!) • If you are tardy, you must report to ISS and bring back a pass • Homework will be stamped • Good stamp = you’ve completed “enough” • Bad stamp = “Incomplete” – you can still make it up!

  4. RESPECT the palace! • Check supply boxes for missing items, damage, misuse, etc. • Do not go beyond the “invisible line” & ASK if you need to use something in the room! • Take, use, and put back all equipment appropriately – otherwise privilege will be lost • Follow rules of your safety contract! • CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES! …or deal with the QUEEN!

  5. Can I get out of my seat? • Bathroom • 4 stickers per 9 weeks. • ASK PERMISSION, fill out a sticker, stick it to the clipboard, take the pass, hurry back! • Getting glue sticks, throwing away garbage, sharpening pencil, etc. = do it before/after class or in between activities (ask first!). Do not get up and roam around during a lesson or activity! …when in doubt, ask first!

  6. Textbooks • You will be issued an Earth Science Textbook • The day it is issued, take it home and don’t bring it back to class until the last day of the semester • Classroom textbooks MUST remain in the room and on the assigned desk • If books go missing, I will remove them and you WILL have to bring your book with you to class every day! • DO NOT FURTHER DAMAGE THE CLASS BOOKS!

  7. Garbage(…seriously, she has policies about trash?...YES!) • Buckets on Tables • These are for paper scraps ONLY! No garbage, pencil shavings, gum, food, etc! • Someone empty them regularly • Recycle • Pay attention to what you are recycling (glass, plastic, aluminum, paper) • Do you know what happens when you don’t recycle correctly?!

  8. Computers/iPads • Network Account – all students need an active NHCS network account name and password. Please see me if you do not have one! • iPads – we do a TON of Internet-based work and to use the iPads is a privilege. Any abuse or neglect will result in loss of privilege for the remainder of the semester. • Printing – you may come in to print before school as long as it is before 8:15!

  9. Cell Phones • DO NOT USE YOUR CELL PHONE FOR ANY REASON IN MY CLASS!!!!! • If asked to surrender your phone, please do so! Cell Phone Graveyard

  10. How do I get out of here? • Clean up & HAVE A SEAT AT YOUR DESK! • We do not line up at the door like elementary kids • Check to see if you have any Homework! • Even if I don’t say it out loud, if it’s written on the board, you have to do it! • Wait to be dismissed by me! • I like to check to see that everything is cleaned up properly & give last minute announcements. • DO NOT PACK YOUR BAGS EARLY… EVERY MINUTE COUNTS!
