OBJECTIVES TODAY WE WILL…. • Generate (ask) questions while we read • Good Readers ask questions as they read • As we read, we try to answer the questions • We will distinguish between what is fantasy and what is reality • We use a Fantasy and Reality Chart to help us find the difference between fantasy and reality .

  5. FANTASY AND REALITY • What is Fantasy? • Fantasy, in a fiction story, means that a character does not act like a real person. Fantasy events could never happen in real life. • Can you think of a story that is an example of fantasy? • What is Reality? • Reality, in a fiction story, means that the characters act like real people and the events could really happen. • Can you think of a story that is an example of reality?

  6. PREVIEW & PREDICT When I say “Go”, take 1 minute to preview the illustrations. Ask yourself: • Do you think this story could happen in real life? • Why or why not? On your index card, write your predictions about the events or characters in the story. After we listen to the story, we will check your predictions.
