  3. Written Exam • ID signs by shape, color, or symbol • ID signals & pavement markings • Questions about traffic laws, safety rules, crash prevention & vehicle equipment

  4. Driving Exam • Behind-the-wheel (pg12 RR) • New drivers & +75 yr old

  5. Drivers Under 21 • Classroom Education • Instruction Permit • Graduated Driver Licensing Program (GDL)

  6. Classroom Education How many hours of class? • Must successfully complete 30 hours of classroom instruction Which 2 exam must you pass for a permit? • Pass Illinois State Permit Exam & Vision

  7. Instruction Permit • 15-17 yr. old • Completed Class/Vision/Exam • Valid for 2 yrs. • Held for 9 consecutivemonths.

  8. Instruction Permit • Allowed to practice behind-the-wheel • Person must be +21yr. old & have a valid drivers license for at least 1 yr. • 50 hours of driving practice, 10 hours at night

  9. Graduated Driver Licensing Program (GDL) • Drivers ages 15-20 • 3 phase of specific guidelines
