The Alaska Pretrial Assessment Tool was developed through extensive data collection from various criminal justice partners. The research team consolidated diverse datasets into a comprehensive collection, applying advanced statistical analyses to determine the most predictive data fields. This resulted in the Alaska-2 Scale, which assesses two main risk components: the likelihood of failing to appear (FTA) for court hearings and the potential for new criminal arrests (NCA) during pretrial release. The tool factors in demographic elements, employment history, residence stability, past convictions, and other relevant indicators.
