Before the start of the trail various decisions makers are provided the opportunity to determine how the juvenile justice system will dispose of each case • Serious cases the youth may even be transferred to adult court • The four primary stages are intake, diversion, waiver, and detention • During intake an official of the juvenile court must decide in effect what to do with the offender
