Grade Enhancement /Senior Year Class Load • AzMERIT Grade Enhancement • Students can improve their grade by one letter grade if they are proficient or highly proficient on their AzMERIT/AIMS test • Senior year class load • Starting with the class of 2021, students will have to be in a minimum of 4 classes during their senior year

AP vs. Dual Enrollment Advanced Placement Cost: $100 per test taken College Credit Score a 3, 4, or 5 Dependent on subject/school Credit transfers throughout nation & internationally Check school for credit policy Rio Salado Dual Enrollment Cost: $85 per credit per semester, plus $15 registration fee College Credit • Classes are usually 3-4 college credits per semester • In-state transfers • Check on intended major Out-of State Varies among schools

Dual Enrollment • AGEC – A - general education curriculum required for Associate of Arts (AA) and Bachelors degrees at all Arizona Community College and Universities. • AA/AS – there is potential to work towards and/or earn an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree while in high school. • Dual enrollment classes are college classes so the grades will be on a college transcript and the attendance policy is very strict.

AGEC - Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) AGEC The AGEC consists of 35-38 semester-credits that fulfill lower-division general education requirements for students planning to transfer to any Arizona public community college or university. The credits transfer as a block and apply to graduation requirements. Core Areas for AGEC-A: First-Year Composition…………………………………………………. 6 cr. Therefore, no additional semester credits are required to satisfy the two awareness areas.

Course Transferability • Articulation agreements are in place among all Arizona public colleges and universities, as well as several Arizona private colleges. • Students are generally successful in transferring courses to out-of-state colleges and universities due to Rio Salado College’s accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission and (NACEP) the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partners • Check out – aztransfer.com

Dual Enrollment Process • September – November - Students pick their dual classes for next school year • February – April – Students create an account online and then take the Accuplacer test on campus • March – May - Rio opens the tuition assistance (TA) application (you will be notified early June if you are eligible for the TA) • July - You will receive a letter with instructions on how to enroll for the dual enrollment classes • July – August - All enrollment is completed online at Rio Salado and needs to be completed on or before the first week of school • September - Payment due to Rio Salado by the 5th week of school
