  1. THE CLASH OF KINGDOM SEEDS Text: Matthew 13:24-30 Mat 13:24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; Mat 13:25 "but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.

  2. Mat 13:26 "But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. • Mat 13:27 "So the servants of the owner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' • Mat 13:28 "He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, 'Do you want us then to go and gather them up?‘ • Mat 13:29 "But he said, 'No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.

  3. Mat 13:30 'Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.“ INTRO: • We’ve learnt our purpose of existence last Sunday. • We are the good seeds of the kingdom planted in the world. • Satan has planted his seeds as well, unfortunately, they’ve got stronger influence.

  4. Number wise, they are the flour while we are the yeast. • The tendency is we dance with the music, and it is for this reason we encounter clash if we stick on being good seed. AIM: • FOR US TO BE AWARE THAT WE ARE LIVING IN 2 DIFFERENT WORLDS • FOR US TO LIVE ON THE CULTURE OF HEAVEN.

  5. I. CULTURE DEFINED: • Is the manifestation of the collective thinking of a people. • The totality of socially transmitted behaviour patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and all other products of human work and thought. • The mentality of a group of people that forms their lifestyle. • Pro 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so [is] he.

  6. II. THE POWER OF CULTURE • 2Cr 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, • 2Cr 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, • Ex. A white (Christian) man who divorced his wife and married another woman.

  7. Mat 19:9 "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.“ • Mal 2:16 "For the LORD God of Israel says That He hates divorce, For it covers one's garment with violence," Says the LORD of hosts. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously.“ • People come to believe that since it is acceptable in the society, it is also acceptable to God.

  8. Rom 7:2 For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to [her] husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of [her] husband. • One of the biggest challenge that church leaders faced during the first centuries of the church’s existence was how to keep those who were coming into the church out of pagan backgrounds from bringing elements of their pagan culture with them and blending these with their new faith in Christ.

  9. 2Ki 17:32 So they feared the LORD, and from every class they appointed for themselves priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the shrines of the high places. • 2Ki 17:33 They feared the LORD, yet served their own gods--according to the rituals of the nations from among whom they were carried away. • 2Ki 17:34 To this day they continue practicing the former rituals; • Ex. Rosary-Manthra • Easter-sun goddess

  10. Christmas-fireworks, Christmas trees or lights, Santa Claus, etc. • Images-it was an attempt of the Catholic church to divert the pagans’ practices of those idols to images. • All these came from a pagan culture. • America is known to be a Christian country but 500,000 babies are being aborted every year. • They practice divorce. • Marriage of the same sex were legalized and they are protected by laws.

  11. III. OUR CHALLENGE IS TO BE DIFFERENT FROM THEM. • Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. • 1Sa 2:8 He raises the poor from the dust [And] lifts the beggar from the ash heap, To set [them] among princes And make them inherit the throne of glory. "For the pillars of the earth [are] the LORD's, And He has set the world upon them.

  12. The earth refers to the place, the physical planet on which we reside • World refers to order of governing affairs. • God created the physical earth and then set on it the “world” of his government and divine order. • Satan the pretender, the ruler of the world before Jesus set his’ as well. • Do not be conformed to this world. • Be transformed • By the renewing of your mind • Repent-change your mind or culture

  13. IV. TIME TO CLAIM BACK WHAT IS OURS IN THE FIRST PLACE • Satan stole our language to communicate with God • When Spain reigned in the Phils. They introduced their own language. • We count, ono, dos, tres, kuatro… • Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

  14. Col 4:6 [Let] your speech always [be] with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. • Jam 3:6 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. • Our history was stolen as well. • We forgot who we are and are we created. • We don’t where we came from.

  15. He also stole our culture. • When he planted his seeds of deception it worked well on the seeds of the devil. • Evangelism of the gospel wasn’t easy because we have already adapted the culture of the wicked.

  16. V. THERE WOULD BE NO CLASH IF THERE IS ONLY ONE CULTURE • In the garden, there was one culture • One government, the government of God • Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. • Rom 13:2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.

  17. VI. THE CAUSE OF ALL CHAOS, WARS, DIVISION, etc. is differences in religion, ideas, principles. • Muslims killing Christians • Catholics vs. Protestants • Division among born again churches. • The problem is we cannot kill ideas as they have been pass over. • Only idea can overcome ideas, give them a new idea. God’s idea. • John 8:32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

  18. This is why the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom is necessary. • Luke 4:43 but He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent. VII. BOTTOM LINE • John 15:19 "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

  19. We have the culture of heaven while the world we live have the culture of the enemy. • But is on this particular occasion that the Lord expect us to shine. • Phil 2:15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

  20. CHALLENGE: • Are you holding on the culture of heaven when the occasion calls for? • When pressure arise, were you become more effective as yeast? CONCLUSION: • Phil 2:15that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

  21. James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, [and] to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
