  3. Purpose of ITRM Policy PLA140-01 • To establish platform policy requirements, which govern the acquisition, use and management of personal computing, server and storage technologies by state executive branch agencies of the Commonwealth of Virginia

  4. Document Development • Policy directions were developed as part of the Platform Domain document approved by the ITIB last March • Policy directions were developed by a collaborative effort that involved input from: • VITA directorates via the domain team and • Other Executive Branch Agencies via VITA’s online review and comment application (ORCA).

Policy Overview • Goals • Achieve greater efficiencies in acquisition and use of computing platforms • Ensure availability of a full compliment of tools for meeting business needs • Objectives • Ensure availability of architecture knowledge base • Use the knowledge base to recommend strategies
