  8. STOP! To score your test, follow the instructions on the following slide.

  9. Scoring the IPC Test Check the written answers against the word list repeated on the next two slides. Give the yourself one point for each correct word or two points for pair. For example, “warm puppy” is worth two points. If the spelling is not accurate but recognizable (e.g. “pupy”), mark it correct. Also ignore distinctions between singular and plural words.

  10. Form A: List One other students unexpected experience tribal groups rejected milk welfare policies prevailing fashions beautiful furniture monthly income tragic situation following performance firstborn son young married many desserts civil war modern medicine agricultural program inexcusable menace flower beds terrifying cases white blouse

  11. Form A: List Two constant rate recent theory abstract terms these conditions dramatic changes preoperational stage other rewards critical periods intelligence tests human experience cognitive dissonance greater risk additional cue detailed instructions aggressive behavior high level proactive inhibition available information learning experiment sex-typed language

  12. Add the scores for both lists and divide the sum by 4. Take the calculation to two decimal places. Example: List 1: 12 List 2: 10 Sum: 22/4 = 5.50

  13. The resulting score (5.50) tells you approximately how many things you can remember before a review or chunking (integration) of the bits of information is necessary. For example, if you read an entire chapter, you will remember very little of the contents; therefore, read a paragraph or two at a time.
