Latin American Relations: • Kennedy wanted to improve relations with Latin America • Proposed the Alliance for Progress • Series of cooperative aid projects with Latin American governments • Promised aid to Latin American governments • Over 10 years, these nations would receive roughly $20 billion in aid • Supported real reform in Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, and Central American nations • Some of these nations had rulers who used their funding to maintain their power
