  2. Soaring to New Heights! Mission: Our STEM school provides the foundation to encourage students to become curious and critical thinkers that will engage in developing multiple solutions to real world problems to benefit society and their future. Vision: RBB Elementary STEM Magnet school is small community where every student at our campus will be prepared to flourish as global citizen. Motto: Soaring to New Heights! Mascot: Falcon School Colors: Blue and Silver

  3. Campus Procedures-Morning • School Hours and Operations: 7:50AM- 3:05PM • Students may be dropped off no earlier than 7:15AM. They must report to the Cafeteria. • Free Breakfast is served from 7:20AM-7:45AMParents may eat with their children and may purchase a tray. • The first bell rings at 7:45AM -Students report to classrooms. • All SFDRCISD follow the same school hours for instruction. 7:50AM-3:05PM. A student is tardy/late to school after 7:50AM. • Pledges and Announcements at 7:50AM. • Instruction and transitions begin at 7:55AM. • Students coming in after 7:55AM are tardy and must be signed in at the office by an adult. • All visitors must obtain a pass in the Main Office during hours of Instruction and Lunches. • The Attendance time stamp is 10AM, students present at this time are not considered absent.

  4. Campus Procedures – Drop-off and Pick-up • Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures • Drop-off begins at 7:15AM-Visitor Lot-circular lot off of 7th Street (no signage) drive-thru only no parking except in spaces of Visitor Lot (Teachers and staff begin outside duty at 7:30AM). • Students in Pre-K must be signed in by an adult with the Teacher or Teacher’s Aide, someone will be in the cafeteria at 7:15 AM for Pre-K drop off. • Pick-Up begins at 3:05PM, the circular drive is drive thru only, please park in the spaces if needed. • Students that ride bikes to and from school must park them in the bike racks in the front of the school. • Bikes, scooters and skateboards may not be ridden on school property, please remind your children to walk them on the sidewalks and in the parking lots. Students not complying will lose the privilege of bringing them to school. • The Faculty Parking Lot is along Mitchell Blvd and is not a drop off area.

  5. LUNCHES • Parents are welcome to come and eat with their children during lunch. Policy only allows for parents to eat with their own child. Parents are welcome to purchase a tray. (see schedule) • Foods with Minimal Nutritional Value (FMNV) • Schools may not serve or provide access for students to FMNV or carbonated beverages. • FMNV and carbonated beverages may not be sold or given away on school premises by the school, teachers, parents, or any other person or group during the school day. • A student may bring FMNV foods from home as long as the student is not selling or providing the items to other students. • The policy does not include sports drinks or juices. • [Lauren's Law (TEA) allows for a parent or grandparent to bring a treat for their child/grandchild's class on that child's birthday, this may be done at the end of the month and coordinated with your child's teacher.]

Procedures • Students may be checked out by parents or authorized adults in the office. • Dismissal is 3:05PM, the front gate will be unlocked at 3PM. • Parents must wait at the front of the school for pick-up afterschool. Please do not wait for your child at the classroom trailers or cafeteria. • Parents or Guardians must arrange transportation to afterschool care programs for their child. School District Staff are not permitted to walk students to the CDC or Youth Center. • Please provide your child with a water bottle for hydration. There are limited water fountains/dispensers on campus. This will reduce paper cup waste and expenses to the school. • There are no crossing guards at RBB elementary, please be aware of children crossing the nearby streets and caution your children to observe traffic. Volunteers are welcome.

  7. Soaring to New Heights! • School Operations • RBB Elementary will be utilizing the Losano Fitness Gym for PE in grades K-5. Second semester, the Pre-K students will begin to use it as well. We will also be visiting the Laughlin Library once per grading period. Please get your child a Library Card so that they can check out books. The students will be walking to these facilities, weather permitting. • RBB Elementary is a Texas Education Agency, TEA, accredited school with a “A” Rating for the 2018-2019 school year. Our teachers are state certified in their grade level and content. • As a STEM focused school we are using the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch Curriculum and are a member school of PLTW. Del Rio Middle School and Del Rio High School are also PLTW schools. • Our Gifted and Talented Program is an inclusion program District-Wide and all classroom teachers at RBB are GT Certified.

Soaring to New Heights! • Parent Meetings- Federal Compliance for all Title 1 Public School Districts • Title 1 Parental Involvement & Teacher-Parent-Student Compact-September 12th at 2PM repeated at 5:30PM • Title 1 Part Meeting – October 24th at 2PM repeated at 5:30PM • There will be a parent meeting once per six week grading period all school year, please see newsletters

Soaring to New Heights! • Extracurricular Student Activities and Clubs • Students may participate in extra-curricular activities at RBB elementary with parental permission and if they meet the grade-level or age requirements. For competitive events such as Robotics and UIL, they must also maintain a passing average in their classes. • It is the responsibility of parents or guardians to providing afterschool transportation for their child if they are participating in extracurricular activities. This includes transportation to the Youth Center. SFDRCISD employees are not permitted to walk students and check them in at the Youth Center.

  10. ATTENDANCE-Texas Education Agency • Accommodations for Children of Military Families • The district will excuse absences related to a student visiting a parent, including a stepparent or legal guardian, who is: • Called to active duty, • On leave, or • Returning from a deployment of at least four months. • The district will permit no more than 5 excused absences per year for this purpose. For the absence to be excused, the absence must occur no earlier than the 60th day before deployment or no later than the 30th day after the parent’s return from deployment. Additional information may be found at Military Family Resources at the Texas Education Agency. • All non-school activity related absences, excused or unexcused count towards a students perfect attendance. They will also count in the mandatory 90% attendance rule for grade advancement and credit passing to the next grade level.

  11. Dress and Grooming • Skirts, dresses and shorts should not be shorter than mid-thigh. • Appropriate undergarments must be worn at all times. Shorts under dresses or skirts for girls is recommended • Flip flops are not allowed. Footwear with wheels are prohibited. • Hair for males and females should be neat and clean and not cover the face. Unconventional faux hawk, shaved designs or Mohawk hairstyles are not permitted. • Headwear and sunglasses must not be worn in buildings. • Clothing that is lewd, offensive, vulgar or obscene or that advertises or depicts tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or any other substance prohibited under board policy shall not be worn. • Tank tops, muscle shirts, halter tops, spaghetti straps, exposed backs or midriffs, and see-through garments are not permitted. • Grooming for both male and female students should be neat and clean.
