Listen to the following sample speaking tests • 1) Look at the assessment criteria for the test • 2)In pairs, decide what marks you would award for each test • 3)In pairs, decide what grade you would award for each test • 4) Why did you reach that decision? Some techniques to help you improve your grade • Avoid negative and one word answers • Avoid short answers – use connectives • Ensure you include at least 2 tenses • Be able to express opinions • Be able to justify your opinions • Buy yourself thinking time: e.g.C’estunebonne question • Try filling gaps with words such as euh, par exemple, c’est à dire or ben with French intonation • Steer the conversation to your advantage • Ask the examiner (me) a question….here’s how Objective: To raise our GCSE grade in the speaking assessment
