Pécs • Pécs is located in the Southern part of Hungary, close to the Croatian border • Culturally diverse and stimulating city • The downtown of Pécs is a unique mixture of the relics of Early Christianity, the arrival of the Hungarians, the Turkish reign and the achievements of modern architecture and art • Population of about 160,000

  4. 1990– The Faculty of Health Sciences is established within the Medical University of Pécs 1992– The Teacher Training Faculty is split into the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Sciences, increasing the number of faculties to four 1995– The Pollack Mihály Technical College is integrated into Janus Pannonius University 1996– The Faculty of Music and Visual Arts, the sixth faculty is established 2000– With the merger of Janus Pannonius University, the Medical University of Pécs and the Illyés Gyula Teacher Training College of Szekszárd, an integrated university with nine facultie is founded under the name The University of Pécs

  5. 2004 - Pollack Mihály Technical College is transformed into a full-fledged university faculty under the name of Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering 2005 - The Faculty of Adult Education and Human Resources Development is established as the tenth faculty of the University 2006 - The College of Health Sciences becomes a university-level faculty under the name of the Faculty of Health Sciences 2010 - A modern Knowledge Centre and University Library is opened 2011 - The Szekszárd Illyés Gyula College Faculty becomes a University Faculty 2012 - The Szentágothai Research Centre is opened 2013 - The Minister of Human Resources classified the University of Pécs as a Research University for the period from 2013 to 2016
