2. Sample ICE Quote Paragraph: The best theme that can be seen in The Outsiders is that people are the same underneath, even if they come from different backgrounds. This can be seen when Cherry tells Ponyboy that things are rough all over (55). Through this comment, she is letting Ponyboy know that even though she is wealthy and has a great future ahead of her, she still has problems. Perhaps the best example of this theme is seen when Cherry and Ponyboy are talking in the parking lot. Ponyboy asks Cherry if she can seen the sunset on the west side. When she responds, he answers, “You can see it from the east side, too” (99).The quote shows that Ponyboy has realized that even though they are from two different classes, they both feel emotions and see the same things in life.
