  1. Furnace Repair: Learn How to Fix Your Noisy Furnace? A properly maintained furnace is less likely to break down at wrong times. Many people do not understand it and often end up dealing with expensive furnace repair. When you do not fix problems as soon as they arise, you allow them to spiral out of control. Eventually, there will be so many complications that only a professional plumber would correct them. However, you can often handle things on your own, especially when you are trying to fix your noisy furnace. You may be ignoring your noisy furnace for quite a while, but you need to understand that leaving it unattended would lead to a serious problem. Interestingly, you can tell a lot about the overall 'health' of your furnace simply by listening to the noise it makes. For instance:  Scraping Sounds: If you are noticing a scraping sound, it could be coming from three different sources. A loose blower wheel could be the issue. When these wheels become loose, they may start hitting the blower housing, which in turn would produce a scraping sound. It is important to fix it as soon as possible or else it will damage the blower wheel as well as the housing. Similarly, a broken blower wheel could also be the underlying cause of a noisy furnace. When broken, the wheel may vibrate in the housing and produce scratching, squealing, and banging sounds. Moreover, a broker motor mount might also be the reason why you have a noisy furnace.  Thumping Sounds: Again, a number of issues might make your furnace to produce a thumping sound. The most common cause of vibrating and thumping sounds is an unbalanced blower wheel. If that is the case, you have to be very careful and ensure that you let a plumber take a closer look at it because leaving it unattended could cause the motor to become out of balance.  Humming Sounds: Noticing a humming sound is rather common and is generally the result of a loud transformer. However, there might be something else wrong if you have a humming sound and your furnace is not functioning properly. Sometimes, you may notice a humming sound when there is a problem with a capacitor. A bad interior fan may also produce the same sound.  Squealing Sounds: You usually notice a squealing sound when you have a loose fan belt. A lack of lubricant may also result in the same problem. Simply lubricating and tightening the belt would resolve the issue. The fact of the matter is that so many things could be the reason why you are dealing with a noisy furnace. It is important to not overlook the problem and look carefully to

  2. identify the root cause. You can certainly try your own knowledge, but ensure that you have turned off the gas and power before trying anything by yourself.
