  5. There is a good example of carrying out such projects. A special issue of the Mineral Resources of Russia. Economics and Management Journal was devoted to the visit in Russia of Team Canada ’s trade and economic mission headed by Jean Chretien, Prime Minister of Canada, in February 2002. Many of the Council’s member companies took part in that issue.

Economics and Management JournalWeb Site: www.geoinform.ruare proposing to prepare a Special Issue of the Journal under the title Russian Mining Industry: Global Integration and Cooperation.It will be focused on doing successful business in Russia and abroad in the mining sector of the global economy.

  7. Some of the Council’s members have already showed interest in the project. Among them areDe Beers, Amur Minerals, Rio Tinto, Sun Minerals and Metals, Anglo American, White & Case, Barrick Gold Corporation, Deloitte, Kinross Gold Corporation

  8. Russian companies that showed interest in the project:Aerogeophysica, ALROSA, Norilsk Nickel, Atomredmetzoloto, Aerogeologia, AGT systems and services

The purpose of the Second Issue is to familiarize readers with Russian and foreign companies practices (mining, legal, financial, as well as suppliers of services and equipment) in the mining sector of the Russian and global economy, evaluate the situation related to the inflow of foreign investments into the Russian mining industry, highlight the latest trends in the Russian legislation.

It is expected that Russian and foreign companies operating in Russia and abroad will share their accumulated work experience with the readers by publishing articles, photos, advertising and other relevant information in the Second Issue.Circulation of the Special Issue will be distributed among Russian Ministries and Agencies, State Duma Committees, and at various Mining Conferences and Exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Moreover, it will also be distributed among business circles of Australia, Canada and Great Britain through the embassies of these countries located in Moscow.

Tentative contents of the issue: • Work experience of Russian companies operating in Russiaand worldwide (series of articles). • Work experience of foreign companies operating in Russia(series of articles). • Mining industry (technical problems, application of modern technologies, management, etc.) and technical upgrading. • Mining industry and the Russian legislation.

  12. It is being planned that the Special Issue will consist up to 150 pages with the Russian text translated into English. 2000 copies of the Special Issue will be printed. If necessary, the number of copies can be increased. The project will be carried out at the expense of the participants.
