Jej história začala ešte vlastne tým ako v roku 1880GottliebDaimler a KarlBenzpoložili základy motorizáciepoložilizáklady motorizácie cestnej prepravy svojimi vynálezmi vysokootáčkového motora a automobilu, ktoré objavili nezávisle na sebe. Následne v roku 1883založil KarlBenz svoju vlastnú firmu Benz & Cie a v novembri 1890 vznikla firma Daimler-Motoren-Gesells.
