I am proud of our school and staff and as the proud parents we want you to be at the school and school events: • Speak up and promote our school ( elected officials, TV, newspaper) • Volunteer at the front desk for making copies and mailing • Participate in fundraisers like Kroger • Come to celebrations, award assemblies and sports games

Parent Classes • Continue this year like last year with ESL and Computer. • First 6 classes will be on Sept 10,17,24, Oct 1,8,15 on Saturdays between 9am-12noon. • We will have two sessions, 1.5 hours each that will repeat. Parents can attend ESL in the first session and Computer in the second or vice-versa.

  11. Total of minimum 100 community service hours • Minimum cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 1.2 • A passing score for every subject of the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) • No balance due

  12. The only credits Horizon Science Academy will accept from middle school (8th grade) are Foreign Language and Algebra I credits with a minimum of B (3.0) final grade. • In order to achieve senior status, a minimum 18 credits is necessary. • Only AP and college level courses will be considered as a replacement to required credits. • Three Units of Foreign Languages of the same type is highly recommended.

  19. Attendance • If a student accumulates more than 30 days of excused or unexcused absences they will not be promoted to the next grade.(15 Days each semester) • It is the students responsibility to get their work if they are absent.

  20. Unexcused vs. Excused Absence • Parents who provide a written reason to the office for their child’s absence will be assigned an excused absence. • Absences of 2 days or longer require an official note. • Family vacations, even if the school is notified, will not be counted as excused absences.

  21. Plagiarism Cheating is a serious infraction, any form of cheating will result in a zero on the assignment. Frequent offenders will result in an office referral and/or a parent conference.

  22. Tutoring? • Students are always welcome to ask their teachers for help before and after school without enrolling in tutoring. • Tutoring will be available during Lunch time Monday through Thursday. • Teachers will identify students who need extra help as the academic year progress. • It is the students’ responsibility to attend tutoring.
