  1. Classroom Rules Mrs. Espinosa All Computer Technology Courses

  2. General Rules • Adhere to rules as stated in student handbook • Adhere to Computer Rules as on your handout and to the school wide computer agreement. • NO Eating and Drinking in the classroom. If you find drinks or food at your area let me know at the beginning of class. I can give detention to those who sit at a computer where drinks, trash, are left behind.

  3. Basics • Restroom and Drink needs should be done prior to class. • 2 Hall Passes per semester. You may ask to use the restroom or get water, but after 2 passes you will have to come back at the end of the day and stay for 5 – 10 minutes. No shows receive classroom detention. • Do not ask the first or last 10 minutes

  4. Respect All • Appropriate language at all times. • Unwanted teasing or harassment are not acceptable behavior. • Unwanted teasing witnessed by others that seems to be persistent or severe can be discussed with me in confidence.

  5. Honor Code • Adherence to honor code for homework, projects, tests, and quizzes • No sharing of work unless a group project has been assigned. For example, vocabulary definitions cannot be done as a group and then printed out for each member. – no credit is a consequence

  6. Rules / Consequences • Varies depending on severity. • First time – warning or class room detention unless issue is serious. Cell phones etc will be taken – this is your warning. • No show for classroom detention will cause a referral to the Dean. • Persistent disruptions or other issues, call to parent

  7. Warnings • Some behavior issues may not receive a warning, for this is your warning. • It is my belief that I should not have to interrupt or discuss certain things during class. For example, I may give a dress code violation without warning. If it distracts me I will do it. • Analogy – Police don’t stop every driver who makes a mistake, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t have. • CD’s and Cell phones – Do not let me see them. No checking of the time. I have and will take phones to the deans.

  8. Warnings Continued • Inappropriate use of the computers. Examples, Instant messaging, e-mailing, inappropriate web sites. • Do not download or open e-mail. Viruses can be traced back to your id. • All websites visited are logged into a file and can be retrieved against your id. • Notify the teacher if something bad is showing at your station or you get a bad pop-up. • Logoff when leaving classroom – not paying attention this can result in classroom detentions • No shows on Classroom detentions – turn into Saturday Detentions. • DO NOT get on each other stations.

  9. Homework Policy • Homework is due at the beginning of class unless otherwise stated • It is placed on homework link of course web page. Find me under Faculty • Assignments turned in 1 class period late receives up to 25% off + mistakes. • Assignments turned in 2 class periods late receive up to 50% off + mistakes. • After 2 class periods work does not have to be accepted – see me individually at tutoring.

  10. Homework Policy Continued • There may be 1 extra credit assignments that will allow you to receive partial credit, but there is no big make-up like some teachers have at the end. • Homework is 10-15% of your grade depending on the course.

  11. Classroom Assignments • Work done in class is due at the time specified by the teacher. • Classroom late work are subject to the same penalties as homework penalties. This is at the teachers discretion • Effort in class is always important!!! • Students that have an attendance code of A, U, or T may not receive credit for missed work. • A’s need to switch to U or E or V.

  12. Participation/Conduct/Effort • 10% - 15% of your grade depending on course • Respect others - Including me • Maintain effort and focus – no sleeping • When finished early with work I will let you know what options you have. • In all aspects of your behavior keep things appropriate. • Do not do other homework in this class unless designated as an option when done.

  13. Classroom Rules • Posted in class • Can be modified.
