  3. Plan for Day 2 • Work Session One – Department/Division 8:45am – Noon • Noon – 1:00pm (Check-in, Lunch) • Work Session Two – Department/Division 1:00pm – 2:30pm • Alright Weslow, What the hell do we do???

Goals for Day 2 • Remember February… Finish/Flesh Out Scope and Sequence Items • Discuss at the Department/Division level S+S Items • Don’t be afraid to change, add, or eliminate S+S Items based off discussions • Take the S+S Item, Descriptor, and then apply it to KNOWING, DOING, CREATING MEANING • KEEP IT SIMPLE

  5. MS Sample – Science • S+S Item = Scientific Reasoning The student will demonstrate scientific reasoning by analyzing how science explains and predicts phenomena. Students will learn to pose relevant science questions. Students will create logical arguments • Knowing = • Doing = • Creating Meaning =

MS Sample – Science 2 • S+S Item = Scientific Reasoning 2 • Knowing = Student will identify the major factors as to how science explains and predicts phenomena • Doing = Students will create logical arguments. Students will pose relevant, science based questions • Creating Meaning = Student will demonstrate scientific reasoning by analyzing how science explains and predicts phenomena

ES Sample - Math • S+S Item = TIME • Knowing = Students will be able to identify the numbers and hands on a clock • Doing = Students will be able to articulate the exact time on a clock using the hour and minute hand • Creating Meaning = Students will be able to compare the difference between am and pm, and solve how many minutes of lunch they have remaining at a given time

HS Sample – English • S+S Item = Details in a Narrative • Knowing = Students will define the major components used in a narrative text • Doing = Students will be able to use the details in a narrative of their own creation • Creating Meaning = Students will be able to analyze the details in a narrative with the overall tone of that narrative

  9. Before You Go… Remember… • Keep It Simple.. Not doing entire rubric from yesterday… one item, one set of K, D, CM at a time • Specificity comes in the Learning Opportunity… worry about that later • Grades and Grade Book…. Time/Place… aka… NOT NOW 
