  2. Welcome! • What is it? it is an honor society for middle school theatre students.

  3. Welcome! • What do we do? when we meet every Monday we will play games and rehearse our scenes/songs for district competition.

  4. Welcome! • What different events can we compete in? You may choose to perform a monologue, pantomime, solo, duet acting, duet singing, small group musical, large group musical, costume design, makeup design, set design, etc.

  5. Welcome! • What is the district competition? On December 6th we will all meet at Seminole high school and will compete in our selected IP. We ask that you attend the entire day from 8:00am until approximately 7:00pm. We do this so that you area able to see each other perform, participate in workshops and attend the closing ceremonies where they will announce all of the excellent and superior ratings for each category.

  6. Welcome! • What is the state competition? the top 10 student groups who scored the highest from our school will move on to the state level where they will compete, much the same way we did at districts. The competition will be at Brevard community college on February 7th. We will all meet there and will spend the day, from 9-4pm at BCC. If your group is selected to perform at state you will need to pay an additional fee for the competition. We hope our annual fundraiser will help us keep this additional cost low.

  7. Welcome! • What is the fundraiser? On Thursday November 13th at 6:30 in the blackbox theatre students will perform all of their acts they are taking to competition. We call this our thespian showcase, and charge $3 presale, $5 at the door to attend. This gives the parents an opportunity to see what their performers have been working on and allows the students to practice their acts in front of an audience before presenting to the judges.

  13. Junior Thespian Rating Summary

  14. Point sheet • The elected president will keep a notebook. This notebook will have a record of every members points. It is the responsibility of the member to get the notebook from the president and record their points.

  15. dues Unfortunately the participation in the competitions do cost money. As a result, each member will need to pay a $35 fee for their dues. This will cover their entry into the district competition, a competition t-shirt, and dinner for the thespian showcase. The dues are due by check before Monday September 22nd. If the fee is difficult for you at this time, please see me and we can work something out. I would hate for this to stand in the way of your child participating in this wonderful opportunity.

  16. Dates to remember: • Monday, September 8: first thespian meeting • Thursday, November 13th @ 6:30: thespian showcase • Saturday December 6th @ 8:30-8:00pm district competition at Seminole high school • Saturday February 7th @ 9-4pm: state competition at Brevard community college
