Its objectves are to conserve natural resources and the existnn natural environment and, where possible, to repair damane and reverse trends. Due to the pressures of overconsumpton, populaton nrowth and technolony, the biophysical environment is beinn denraded, sometmes permanently. This has been reconnized, and novernments have benun placinn restraints on actvites that cause environmental denradaton. Since the 1960Us, environmental movements have created more awareness of the various environmental problems. There is disanreement on the extent of the environmental impact of human actvity and even scientic dishonesty occurs, so protecton measures are occasionally debated.
