  4. Board of Directors cont… Meetings (how often and method i.e. in person, conference calls): Monthly meetings the first Wednesday of each month. Typically meetings are in person. What was Good about your BOD: Had a mix of people who had served on the board and some that were new. What Challenges did your BOD face: Getting membership involved. Board Transition of Members – at end of year:Held breakfast meeting with out-going and in-coming officers invited to participate. Recruiting/Succession planning methods: Contacted government offices (city, county, and state) about meetings to encourage attendance. Coordinated date of Spring seminar with other conference/ meeting date to try and draw in new people.

Great opportunity for knowledge share within the group.

  7. January 2011 • Meeting Date: January 11, 2011 • Time of Day: Lunch Time (11:30 – 1:00) • Attendance #’s: • Topic: “Data Security” • Speaker: • Comments: Meeting cancelled due to winter weather and low meeting enrollment.

May 2011 • Meeting Date: May 10, 2011 • Time of Day: Lunch Time (11:30 – 1:00) • Attendance #’s: 7 • Topic: “Security & Data Breaches in Business Today” • Speaker: Dave Williams with Fidelity Bank • Comments: Good speaker. He had great examples of data breaches and the end result to the companies involved. Provided the group with ideas and things to look for when assessing data security.

Annual Seminar • Meeting Date: March 15, 2011 • Time of Day: Afternoon – Half day seminar • Attendance #’s: 15 • Topic: “GARP – Strategies for Information Governance Success” • Speaker: Diane Carlisle - Deputy Executive Director for ARMA International Topic: “Long Term Digital Preservation” • Speaker: Jim Minihan with iMerge Consulting • Attendee Fee Structure: • $50 for members • $75 for non-member

  10. Annual Seminar cont… Vendor Involvement/Support: Vendors were provided booth space and time was provided for participants to visit with vendors. Vendors were provided with one free seminar space. Two of the vendors provided prizes for a drawing.

  11. Special Projects • Community Involvement – • The chapter made a donation to each month’s speaker in their name to the charity of their choice. • Donation to the Bridges Program. This is a local program that works to provide housing and education and/or skills training to young adults ages 16 – 23 who are homeless. • Other professional organization projects/relationships • Worked with the county clerks to provide continuing education credit for Spring seminar. • Vendor Relationships • Sponsors for a number of events at the regional meeting hosted last July. • Sponsors for Spring seminar.

Successes, Challenges & “Different” • Top Successes • Regional Leadership Conference • Spring Seminar • What really challenged the Board and/or Chapter this year? • Getting the membership involved • What would/could the BOD have done different or would try next time? • Have a board member contact members directly and invite to meetings. • Encourage members to bring guests to meetings by offering reduced/ free meeting fee.

  13. Conclusion • The future of the chapter is uncertain. • Lack of membership willingness to step up into leadership or committee roles. • Loss of key members due to employment cuts. • ???????
