  1. Too Much Reliance On Entry Tests?

  2. SAT and ACT Too Much? Many Students complain that the SAT and ACT tests are not a fair way to accept students into colleges. Some students say that the tests are not a insight on their future success.

  3. Claims Overall GPA will show the future success. Richer students will do better because they can afford the prep. Students who are not good test takers will look like bad students.

  4. Support GPA shows how well a student has done through high school and not just on one or two tests. Richer students will be able to pay for better mentors and help which will in turn have a better chance of getting them a higher score. Some students are bad test takers and this is unfair to them to rely on a test to accept them into college.

  5. Counter Claims The ACT and SAT are preparation for college and will show a student’s future success. Colleges should be able to choose in which way they wish to accept or deny a student. The entry tests give a second chance to student’s who have not done so well in school.

  6. Support The ACT and SAT have questions which are similar to the material you will be learning in college. If a college wants to use the entry test as a caliber they should be allowed because its their school. The Students who realize that they did not do well in school will still have a chance at being accepted into a good school.

  7. Rebuttals If the ACT and SAT are college preparation, then what are the four years in high school? Many students do not know what college they want to go to so all colleges in the U.S should have the acceptance procedure without the entry tests. Students who did not do well and did not try for the four years in high school should not be rewarded with that big of a second chance.

  8. Conclusion When accepting students into college, the colleges should not rely only on the entry tests that the student takes but they should rely mostly on the grades that the student received all through high school and then rely very little on the entry test.
