  2. About 2/3 of the Earth is covered with water • Only 1,5% of it is fresh water • 1/5 of the world doesn't have direct access to pure water • We are fortunate to have plenty of water • Our water is close to the ground

  3. About 450 million years ago a meteorite hit the place where Hiiumaa now lies • Hiiumaa arose from the sea soon after the last ice age • As a result we have many artesian wells

  4. Artesian wells • An artesian well is a well, where water comes to surface naturally • The water comes from about 5-20 meters under the ground • There are about 40 boreholes and many natural springs

  7. How can you save water? Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Repair all your leaking taps. Take a shower instead of a bath.
