PRE-AP ELA and Social StudiesEnrollment Criteria Although enrollment in these courses is open, the following should be considered by students and parents when considering enrollments in these courses: • Curriculum is more rigorous, moves at a faster pace, requires independent learning and outside reading and work. • Students should have a proven history of academic success in the subject area, possess interest in the subject area, consider balance of academic load with outside commitments, possess high quality study skills and be actively engaged in their own learning and take responsibility for the workload.

  10. PRE-AP ELA and Social Students Exit Requirements • At the end of the semester, all students below a 70 will be removed from a Pre-AP course. • Parents and staff may recommend a student exit if semester average is 70-74.

  11. Accelerated Math and Science Replaced with PreAP Math and Science • Accelerated Math and Science will no longer be offered at the 7th grade level and are being replaced with PreAP Math and Science. • Both of these classes will be open enrollment, but enrollment recommendations will be the same as those given for PreAP ELA and Social Studies.

  12. PreAP Math and Science Exit Requirements • At the end of the semester, all students below 70 will be removed from PreAP courses. • Parents and staff may recommend a student exit if semester average is 70-74.

Physical Education (required)(1 Full Year) • Physical Education • Boys Athletics (football, basketball, cross country, track) • Girls Athletics (volleyball, basketball, cross country, track) • Dance I • Leadership Officer Training Corp (LOTC) • To participate in Athletics/Cross Country, students must have a current UIL physical on file. Physicals must be completed AFTER May 1, 2019 or they will be invalid for 2019-20 school year. Physicals will be offered at a Tomball ISD campus. Dates to be announced.

  14. Career and Technology Education • Career and Technical Education- • Students are required to take ONE of the following in 7th grade: • Principles of Information Technology (1 year high school credit) • Learn computer skills – design, photo editing, video editing, etc. • Keyboarding & MS Office skills included • OR • Touch System Data Entry (1 semester high school credit) – • Keyboarding & MS Office • AND • Dollars and Sense OR College and Career Readiness (both 1 semester) • Dollars and Sense - Business Skills / Money Management • College and Career Readiness • Additional Offering - Principles of Human Services (1 year HS credit)

  17. Immunizations • All incoming 7th graders are required to get the following immunizations: • Tdap • Varicella • Meningococcal • Proof of these must be submitted to school nurse before start of school in August. Students will not receive a schedule until immunizations are complete
