  1. EQ: To what extent do political leaders have the responsibility to help others?Aim: How has our world been impacted by world leader? Do Now: (Turn EC review sheet for Test) Test 2nd period. What makes a good leader?How does a good leader deal with the economy?How do we judge the success of a country?Is the success of a country related to a good leader?

  2. Hook/ Transition- • What are some major events that happened in the 20th century? (Important) when working on project understand that this is important information to understand and take pride in your work. I expect good interviews. • The 20th century was filled with stories of gangsters, bombings, massacres, and genocide. Find out more about these sordid escapades. • Natural or man-made, disasters are destructive. They can wreak havoc and cause fear. Find out what horrible disasters occurred within the 20th century. • From the discovery of penicillin to the AIDS epidemic, learn more about the medical advances and deadly diseases that occurred throughout the 20th century. • WWII • Vietnam War

  3. Unit on 20th Century World leaders 1917-1990 • This three week unit focuses on the rise of the 20th century leaders and their impact on their nations’ politically, economically socially and culturally. • You will all be assigned a world leader and a partner to work with. • Next you will need to do research, take notes, form questions, examine an ever-changing world map, and design a propaganda poster for your leader. Throughout the unit you will participate in a symposium as well.

  4. You will be graded on the following • Classwork: annotation of the documents 2. Project: speech / interview and its presentation3. Project: propaganda poster 4. Homework grade based on your research that you do on your world leader.

  5. HW – bring in propaganda poster paper, photos and quotes. (Thursday) Project Break Down into steps: • Tuesday 3/19/13 (Step 1-3) <Start> • Step #1 Read and Annotate documents • Step #2 Share with each other 5 Key ideas from your documents • Step #3 Analysis questions (Answer generic guiding questions) • Wednesday 3/20/13 <Finish annotation>*(DOK Interview Questions and Answers on Index cards) Use DOK Stems

  6. Project Break Down into steps: Part II • Thursday 3/21/13 • Step #5- Propaganda Poster ( Take out HW – propaganda poster paper, photos and quotes) Start to organize your Posters. (Look at Mr. Megna’s Model) • Thursday PD 2 3/22/13- MC test. • Step#6- Get ready for Interviews and finish posters. (EC for dressing up for interview as leader or dressing up nice)
