  1. Updates • Resources for EMR-Star • HIT + CAHIMS = New HIT Certificate • Citing CAHIMS Bellevue College, Life Science Informatics Center, & Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.  (2013). CAHIMS Exam Preparation Course. Retrieved from https://www.nterlearning.org/web/guest/course-details?cid=912

  2. Challenge Exams • Current PLA obstacles: • Challenge exams don’t exist for many topics • Portfolios are prohibitively resource-intensive for students and faculty • Auto-scored challenge exams efficient vehicle for obtaining prior learning credit

  3. Expectations for the Challenge Exams • Test composed of items such as multiple-choice and true-false questions that can be auto-scored • All learning outcomes assessed • Test questions sufficient both in terms of content and number to assess mastery of course content • Test questions do not reference a text used in the course, nor local knowledge • Note: Feedback for incorrect answers should not be included—just an indication of which one is the correct answer. Preferred format is below, with asterisk indicating the correct response. Question *a.Possible answer 1 b. Possible answer 2 c. Possible answer 3 d. Possible answer 4

  4. What is Optimal To allay faculty concerns about students “cheating”: • Test bank of more questions than are needed so that exam can be changed periodically to preserve integrity • Test bank of non-open-source (newly created) questions • Align questions with each LO (Matt’s example)

  5. Suggestions for process?
