  4. What: The Spring Festival is the most important festival in China. When: It usually comes in January or February. How: People clean their houses to sweep away bad luck and decorate them with spring festival couplets and paper-cuts. On New Year’s Eve, families get together and have a big dinner. At midnight, people set off firecrackers and fireworks to scare the monster “Nian” away. Children get red packets with “lucky money” inside.
