Strengthening the Mid-Atlantic Region for Tomorrow

The SMART Mid-Atlantic Leadership for Global Solutions Drive Around the World (DAW) Program aims to create a global network promoting automotive/motorsports and aerospace STEM education/workforce development. It also includes a charity program benefiting veterans' unfunded health care. The program is led by a diverse team of leaders and includes international laps and an annual awards ceremony. Funding for the program is through sponsorships of high-visibility activities associated with each lap.

Drive Around the World (DAW) Program SummaryMission & Goals The Mission is providing an integrated, global platform for participating countries to conduct annual Drives (Laps) across their country with these two major goals: - Create and maintain a global network of leaders in the automotive/motorsports and aerospace industries to raise awareness of and promote STEM Educ/Workforce Development for their related industries. -- Led by Virginia Tech (VT) Alumni and the US Department of Education. - Conduct a global charity program to benefit Veterans’ Unfunded Health Care local projects in each participating country -- Led by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #1068.

Drive Around the World (DAW) Program SummaryLaps & Annual International Awards Ceremony Laps are separately managed as individual projects, integrated via the DAW Program US Lap 1, Director Gordon Bryon, VT Alumni - Aug 23, 2019; West from Wildwood NJ to San Diego CA. - Route connects/showcases the many VT Alumni leaders in automotive/motorsports industries. - Route stops will: -- Address STEM Education/Workforce needs -- Provide local grants for Veterans Unfunded Health Care projects. US Lap 2, Director Rob Mazzuca, EFI Enterprises - “Cannonball Run” type competition to return from San Diego to Wildwood. - Will further support DAW’s Veterans & STEM Education/Workforce Development efforts. International Laps - SMART International Group is facilitating Laps in participating Countries to support their Veterans and STEM Education/Workforce Development. - Current candidate countries are: -- Greece, Romania, Italy, West Africa, Ireland and several Caribbean Nations. DAW 1st Annual International Awards Ceremony - One year after first Lap, on Capitol Hill, Washington DC

Drive Around the World (DAW) Program SummaryDigital Documentation & Data Use Major Objective supporting goals is collecting data for actions on: - STEM Education/Workforce for Automotive & Motorsports Industries - Veterans Unfunded Health Care - Transportation / Infrastructure - Energy / Environment - Other tech and social topics as the programs matures Documentation & Data will also support: - Finish ceremonies in each Country - Annual Awards Ceremony on Capitol Hill in Washington DC - Program as an annual series of global events We expect to produce reports and digital source data for public & private use: - Technical - Economic development - Social and Entertainment

Benefits include, but not limited to: - Speaking and Exhibits at the annual awards dinner on Capitol Hill - Logo decals on the cars and all promotional materials. - Video coverage & inclusion in the weekly, WIBG Veterans radio show, “Welcome Home Veterans”, national via the internet. - Promotions at each stop. - Other typical, national/international benefits will apply. - Invited to participate on the program management teams. A sponsorship package is in process; contact the Executive Committee (next slide).
