Scope of the workshop

This workshop aims to foster open discussions about the challenges and successes of ongoing experiments. While regular conferences like PIXEL provide valuable insights, they often lack in-depth exploration of operational experiences. Our goal is to collaboratively identify areas for improvement in a constructive manner. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, propose enhancements, and share ideas without judgment. Enjoy coffee breaks to recharge and connect. Join us for a Fondue gathering to further discuss with colleagues in a relaxed setting.

  1. Scope of the workshop

  2. Cross-experiment discussions • There are very useful regular conferences like PIXEL • However it is clear these conferences have also to cover new and future projects • Sometimes the existing and running experiments may not have enough time to go through the details of the operational experience • In addition the typical presentation at a conference would not go via problems more than necessary • We all know how good are all our detectors, but the aim of the workshop is to see where we fail and where we can do better in a open and honest way

  3. Rules • Try to avoid entering in endless discussions • Nobody feels bad if we will cut: free coffees, chocolate and flowers will repair the offenses if needed • Avoid using acronyms • We have a project of a cross-experiment glossary: in progress • Try not to be shy in asking questions or proposing improvements: this is for the benefit of all and ideas are welcome. Don’t have prejudices • Help in noting down the suggested improvements

  4. Coffee breaks and more • Coffee breaks need to be gained • endless discussions and coffee breaks are not working together • As a backup I have a reservation for a small room on Friday afternoon, in case there would be important discussions that need an immediate follow up • I reserved a Pixel Fondue at the “Café de Mategnin” please let me know if you’re attending by the coffee break (if any) via e-mail • Price ~40-45 CHF (depending on wine consumption) all inclusive: viande sechée, fondue, dessert, water and wine. Starting time 19:30
