Important Dates 2013-14 • Fall Count Date – October 2, 2013 • 6-week count period – September 23-Nov 1 • MSDS file upload due to CEPI – Nov 7 • MSDS file certification deadline – Nov 14 • Data binder due to ISD auditors – Nov 22 • Also refer to CEPI calendar which indicates due dates for various reports.

  3. Updates for 2013-14 • Kindergarten Age Requirements – must be age 5 on or before November 1st. MCL 380.1147, MCL 388.1606, MCL 388.1616(4); PA 60 (6)(4)(l)(iii) • If a child becomes a resident of the district and does not meet the age requirement of 5 years old on or before November 1st, but does not later than December 1st of that school year, the district may count the child in membership for that school year, if the parent/guardian notified the district in writing of their intention to enroll their child in kindergarten for that school year.

  4. Section 21f • A pupil enrolled in a district in any grades 5 to 12 is eligible to enroll in an online course. However, this section dos not apply to a pupil enrolled in a cyber school (MCL 380.551)

Updates 2013-14 • Section 25 MCL 388.1625 • Money Follows the Student – Pro-rated between educating districts • If a pupil enrolls in a district after the pupil membership count day, district notify MDE through SRM and previous district where pupil was counted in last membership • District who counted pupil in membership must pay enrolling district pro‐rata share of FTE based on days enrolled/days in school year • MDE deduct from state aid payments • MDE and CEPI are currently working on process
