  1. The Children’s Way Be Compassionate – Build Trust – Be Innovative – Be a Team – Be Committed Purpose The Children’s Way to Leadership Excellence is designed to unlock your leadership potential. It is a comprehensive set of leadership development workshops and tools. This program will reinforce Children’s Health System’s standard of excellence, as well as empower you to lead with confidence and assist you in the achievement of your objectives. Commitment This program is built on a curriculum of modules critical to leader success. Upon completion of the courses, you will earn The Children’s Way to Leadership Excellence Certification. This designation will set you apart as a key individual who is committed and capable of modeling The Children’s Way. • Competencies • The Leadership Excellence program is based on core competencies—the skills, knowledge and behaviors that support our values. Developing these skills and behaviors creates the desired culture and work environment to help us achieve our vision of The Children’s Way. • Our competencies describe how we demonstrate our five values. Development of these competencies will allow CHS to attain its own brand of leadership excellence. • CHS’ Leader competencies include: • Teamwork • Coaching • Communication • Customer Service • Building Trust • Decision Making • Facilitating Change • Performance Management • Comprehensive details regarding the definition and development of the competencies are available through our new online system—OPALTM (Online Performance and Learning). OPAL provides tools for assessing competency skill levels, advising on key actions and developing competencies. Access OPAL via Intralink at http://www.opal.chsys.org.
