  2. Overview The purpose of this course is to give you the opportunity to experience the fun and satisfaction of learning to create, arrange and produce music using MAC computers and current technology.

  3. Goals and Expectations for Success Each student will: • arrive to class, on time and be prepared with all necessary materials. • be a contributor – NEVER a distraction. • participate in class in a manner appropriate for everyone’s learning. • complete all assignments and study materials.

  4. Goals and Expectations for Success Each student will: • take excellent care of any school owned instruments or materials. • help keep the computer lab neat and clean – No food or drinks. • approach learning with an open mind.

  5. Student Learning Objectives Using basic to advanced computer techniques as they apply to music, each student will: • learn basic to advanced rhythmic, melodic and harmonic concepts of music. • learn music forms, texture, themes, etc. • learn appropriate musical and societal terminology of various styles and genres of music. • compose and arrange music

  6. Student Learning Objectives Using basic to advanced computer techniques as they apply to music, each student will: • sample music and instrument sounds • use midi • create a podcast • learn to listen to, analyze and describe music.

  7. Assessment and Evaluation Each student will be assessed on the following: • preparedness for class. • individual participation. • individual skill development. • working within a group.

  8. Assessment and Evaluation Each student will be assessed on the following: • written assignments. • written or playing tests. • individual projects. • group projects.

  9. Materials • Each student will need a one (1) inch 3 – ring binder for handouts and notes, etc. • Students will not be required to purchase computers or software for this class. However; should anyone wish to purchase computers or software for their own use, be sure to contact Mrs. Fesmire or Mr. Ward for information.

  10. Grading A = 100-93 B = 92-86 C = 85-77 D = 76-70 F = 69 and below

Classroom Etiquette Be respectful of Mrs. Fesmire or Mr. Ward during instruction – no private conversations Be respectful of everyone’s feelings, opinions and abilities – lend a hand to others The William Penn High School and Colonial School District academic, behavioral and attendance policies will be followed in this course.
