  2. Purpose • To develop a vocabulary to describe humor and various responses to humor • To differentiate types of humor and responses to humor

  3. Terms • Titter • Mirthful • Groan • Laughable • Light-hearted • Mocking • Sarcastic • Smile • Witty • Ironic • Guffaw • Chuckle • Cute • Snicker • Amusing • Smirk • Outburst • Irreverent • Giggle • Hysterical

  4. Small Groups • Using an iPod, dictionary, and thesaurus, work as a team to define as many terms as you can in 10 minutes. • Separate the terms into two categories and title the categories. • Revisit the anticipation guide and determine which situation fits the context for each term.

Possibly do not do next slide. • Look at your humorous vocabulary • Working in small groups, determine the intensity using the chart on the next slide. • (Example) amusing is less intense than hysterical
